It launches fine with 1.8 60 foot times, it would have no problem at all lugging a 2.93 gear around with the stock converter. ![]() It's a very tiny camshaft that makes a ton of grunt. I run the 068 which is just a low lift 2801 with identical duration and the stock OEM converter in this car and just 3.31 gears. With your mild 400 combo and 2.93 gearing I really wouldn't worry much about it as the 2801 cam in a 400 build at 10 to 1 compression makes PLENTY of low end power and really wouldn't need a looser converter behind it, at least not unless you change to taller gearing and were going to race the car on occasion.Cliff ![]() Stock full size converters are very efficient, problem is they don't have a lot of torque multiplication right off idle and low rpm's. What we look for in a good converter is improved torque multiplication but very well coupled both below and above the true stall speed when hit with full power.
